Job Descriptions:
Ice Monitor
Checks in skaters at the door and tries to find absent skaters. Communicates with Announcer about absentee skaters and pronunciation of skater names. Ice monitors for practice ice may need to be there very early and very late. Must keep parents away from the doors and direct them to the stands. This job may be done by responsible skaters as well. It is up to the discretion of the chair to allow a non-adult to volunteer for this job. This job sometimes requires a loud voice to find skaters in the lobby. Dress warm. Adults and kids over 15 only with permission from the Ice Monitor Chair.
Announcer
Announces skaters for warmup and at start of each program. Requires a clear and somewhat loud voice. Announcer takes cues from the Referee when to start music for each skater. Dress warm. Adult
Music
Plays music during events and practice ice. Takes cues from Announcer. If volunteering during practice ice this person will announce skaters music as they are on deck and again just before playing on the session. Dress warm. Adult
Practice Ice
Sells any left over practice ice during competition. Collects music for practice ice sessions and gets it to the booth. This job entails dealing with money. Adult
Registration
Checks in skaters as they arrive to the competition and settles any accounts if necessary. This job is very hectic at the beginning of the competition and the beginning of the basic skills competition. This job entails dealing with money. Adult
Accountant Help
Will help the accountants in the accountants office with results and the copying of the results for the runners. 15 or older
Runner
Perfect job for our young skaters and siblings. Collects results from the judges. Takes paperwork to the accountant. Has paperwork signed by Chief judge. Copies results and posts them on the wall and at registration. During IJS events this may mean long waits with nothing to do. Must be able to keep a secret! The young kids absolutely love this job and its secrecy and importance! Kids of all ages
Awards
Helps find skaters at the award table for pictures and gives the skaters their awards. At the discretion of the chair an older responsible skater may also be able to do this job. 15 or older
Club Sales
Sells the merchandise and the event results. Kids sell merchandise in the stands. Kids cannot do this job alone and there must always be an adult present as this job entails dealing with money. Adults and Kids but never kids alone
Hospitality
Makes sure that the hospitality is neat and clean, may need to make coffee. Replenishes empty supplies. Ensures that only coaches and volunteers on duty use the hospitality room. Kids of volunteers that are there all day and volunteers that are on duty for a long session may take a plate and must leave the room to ensure a private place for coaches.
Volunteers may also donate food that will be on the sign up sheet for hospitality. The list will indicate how many hours each donation will give you. Watch for this separate sign up sheet link above. Adult
Transportation
Assists in picking up and dropping off officials from and to the airport. Adult with car
